Supporting the local community in many practical ways
Phab Club
Each Wednesday night a Kenilworth Lion takes members of Kenilworth Phab by minibus to a social event arranged by its members.
Kenilworth PHAB is part of a National Phab network, they encourage disabled and able-bodied people to get together socially to fulfil the PHAB philosophy of ‘MAKING MORE OF LIFE TOGETHER’.
Kenilworth PHAB meet at Kenilworth Sports & Social Club in Rosemary Hill, on the first Wednesday and at St John’s Church Hall, Warwick Road on the third Wednesday of each month. On other weeks they are ‘out and about’ enjoying the delights of local pubs, restaurants, theatres, tenpin bowling, and the like.

Theatre Visits
In December the Kenilworth Lions arrange for disabled and elderly people to visit a theatre in Kenilworth. The Kenilworth Lions pay for the tickets and refreshments. Members transport those who require lifts to and from the theatre. Places are limited but if you know of anyone who lives in Kenilworth who doesn’t go out very often and may enjoy a visit to the theatre please contact us to see if there are places available.

Youth
Lions community projects often support local children and schools through scholarships, recreation and mentoring. Internationally, we offer many programs, including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange and Lions Quest.
Health Testing & PSA Prostate Cancer Testing
In 2019 Kenilworth Lions, in conjunction with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust, arranged their first testing session. Since then, over 900 tests have been undertaken with several men requiring further tests via their GP’s, resulting in successful treatment.
Our Club now collaborates with Kenilworth Rugby Club to jointly facilitate Health Testing Events on behalf of the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust.

Green & Environment
The heart of Kenilworth Lions Club is our Furniture Store in Farmer Ward Road.
The fundamental community benefit from our furniture store is to reduce furniture and other household items going to landfill as waste as well as to raise funds for grants. During the first six months of 2023, the total number of items saved by Kenilworth
Lions from going to landfill was 1,627 pieces. The total tonnage saved from landfill for this half year was 22.41 tonnes.
International Support

Sight Savers
Lions help with restoring eyesight for millions around the world. Drop off your unwanted spectacles at our Furniture Store or in SPECSAVERS in Kenilworth so we can recycle them.
We also help support eye operations around the world. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. Lions have extended their commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through their international Sight First Program, which works to eradicate blindness.
Kenilworth Lions Furniture Store has long been a community hub for recycling spectacles and hearing aids. Spectacles and hearing aids are collected at our furniture store. Kenilworth Lions collect several thousand pairs of glasses each year. Lions (nationally) have now become the number one spectacle recycler in the UK. In the first 6 months of this year Lions UK have donated 1 million pairs of spectacles. The spectacles are sent to Medico in France (owned by Lions of France) where they are checked, assessed and then sent to Third World Countries.
Natural Disasters
Lions Clubs International and local Lions volunteers on the ground help communities following natural disasters by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies and by aiding in longer term reconstruction.
Ranked the Number One non-governmental organisation in 2007 by The Financial Times, Lions Clubs International since 1968 has awarded more than $660 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world.

Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF)
Lions Clubs International Foundation Is the charitable foundation of Lions Clubs International which provides funding to financially assist Lions Clubs to tackle problems such as blindness and hearing loss and respond to major catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods. LCIF is Lions helping Lions serve the world. Donations provide funding in the form of grants to financially assist Lions Districts with large scale humanitarian projects that are too extensive for Lions to finance on their own. The Foundation aids Lions in making a greater impact in their local communities, as well as around the world. Grants provide both immediate assistance following natural disasters and long term disaster relief for reconstruction efforts.
